Project Khmer Hope Diaries is a documentary charting characters that follow the journey of young Cambodian village children into hospitality industry professionals. All under the schooling and support of the NGO, Project Khmer Hope (PKH).
I proposed a more filmic approach, with colour, a 4:3 aspect ratio, and also composing and blocking scenes more intentionally. What followed was four intense days of shooting from rural banana farms to a luxury hotel in urban Phnom Penh. Samuel also encouraged me to stick to prime lenses to shoot our B-roll, so in most scenes we stuck purely to a 35mm or 50mm.
